Having never been in Mongolia, I was unaware that its denizans had only first names or what used to be refered to as 'Christian' names The scheme seemed to have worked pretty well up to now. But a brilliant bureaucrat thought that it should be necessary to have all Mongolians adopt surnames for the country to enter the modern world. The result has been wonderful.
