There can be little doubt that Hezbollah (or Hizbullah in the UK) has emerged with a significant strategic victory by standing its ground with the Israeli army and neutering its tanks with Iranian?Syrian/Russian weapons. Even Israel concedes this. Why then, does Bush assume a contrary position? Perhaps it is attributable to reading Camus. The Muslim forces stood up to the Jews. They won. Let them have their victory. They deserve it. But can't anyone go on to an attempt to bring peace to this region so desperate for it.
