Good thoughtful review of two disappointments, HOLLYWOODLAND & THE BLACK DAHLIA. Much to be learned from these two unfortunate bombs . It is a pity because either of them could have been splendid if only a bit more skillfully handled. By the way, if you are looking for a true film noir extraordinaire, try renting Harold Ramis' The Ice Harvest. It little matters how good you are feeling, this film will bring you back to earth --- and fast.
