SING!

What has happened to Christmas is complicated: over expectations, over spending, over eating, over drinking. Pretty much over everything. 

 

What is truest about it is not complicated. When we strip away the hyperbole and the hype, we have a story that is worth singing about. A child was born, simply; a birth which became the symbol and bearer of peace, joy, goodness, and especially hope for people everywhere. 

 

I don't know how it happened, and I certainly don't understand how it continues to happen. I just know that when we embrace the presence of this story in our lives, while resisting the temptation to use this story to establish a kingdom or a doctrine, love happens. 

 

And that is really worth singing about.
